The GTA was developed by GE to resolve Plate-Voltage breakdown issues and microphonics found in the original 6SN7GT… This was a consistent issue with some equipment of the period that used the GT... The improvements made to the tubes were developed without deviating from the original design of the 6SN7GT... The GTA/GTB also added controlled warm-up! If you’re experiencing typical 6SN7GT noise and voltage issues in your equipment, the GTA and GTB could make a significant difference in helping you solve some of these issues... Keep in mind there is a Voltage Requirement difference, and you should always stick with the tube type recommended for your amp! Power tubes are electrically matched so each tube will have the similar amount of “idle” plate current and amplification characteristics when used in an amplifier. This is done so the tubes can work together in your amp giving you optimal sound quality and tube longevity. Matched tubes also receive extra quality checks to reduce the possibility of getting a faulty power tube that may have slipped by! The Sencore TC28 has the Most Sensitive Leakage Detection System than any Tester in it's class, and a Very Accurate method for testing Tube Life... The Jackson Dynamic 648R rivals the Hickok Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tester, and is the preferred choice of many world-class technicians and engineers! Many hours are invested in proper testing in order to guarantee the best in Quality and Performance... *I am only listing them as used due to the light barium scarring in the domes! Codes Vary! Condition is Excellent... Life Test - TC28 models and the 648R both incorporate a nicely designed very useful Life Test. The circuit switches 1-ohm resistance in series with the filament voltage which drops the filament voltage to the tube under test. The result is a true life test that only drops the filament voltage, while leaving the cathode emission load voltage unchanged. It works very well. If the emission remains in the Green, the tube should have comparable lifespan as a New Tube! *I place every 6SN7 Quad, Set or Single into my YaQin MC-100B Push-Pull Tube Amp... Then I listen! I use a Sencore TC28, a fully calibrated Jackson Dynamic 648R and my ears! The tubes are put through a Life Test and each plate is warmed and measured for emission, leaks and shorts... Each tube is thoroughly inspected, they are described accurately and listed based on fair value... I am priced well under most sources and have a better quality selection!
